Terms and Conditions

1. Acceptance

By using the SLAP Platform, applying for membership, renewing membership, or registering for events, you agree to these Terms.

2. Accounts & Accuracy

  • You must provide accurate and up-to-date information.
  • You are responsible for maintaining confidentiality of your login credentials.
  • SLAP may suspend accounts if we detect misuse, fraud, or security risks.

3. Membership Applications & Approval

  • Submitting an application does not guarantee membership approval.
  • SLAP may request supporting documents for verification.
  • SLAP may approve/reject applications based on SLAP eligibility criteria and internal policies.

4. Fees, Payments & NO REFUNDS

4.1 Membership Fees (NO REFUNDS)

All membership fees (including registration fees, renewal fees, and any administrative fees) are non-refundable, whether paid online or offline, including cases where:

  • A member later becomes ineligible,
  • A member fails to complete profile/verification,
  • A member does not use the Platform benefits.

4.2 Event Fees (NO REFUNDS)

All event registration fees are strictly non-refundable once paid, including (but not limited to):

  • Non-attendance,
  • Late arrival,
  • Partial attendance,
  • Change of mind,
  • Travel/visa issues,
  • Technical issues on the attendee side (internet/device),
  • Duplicate registrations made by the attendee.

Exception: Refunds will only be provided if required by applicable law.

4.3 Payment Processing

Payments are processed through third-party payment gateways/banks. SLAP is not responsible for third-party gateway outages or bank delays.

5. Membership Expiry / Suspension

If renewal is not completed by the due date:

  • Membership access and privileges may be suspended until payment is completed.
  • Historical records may be retained for administrative/audit purposes.

6. Event Registration, Changes & Cancellations

  • Event registration is confirmed only after successful payment (for paid events) and confirmation notification.
  • Events may have limited capacity and may close without notice once full.
  • SLAP may modify event agendas, speakers, venue, schedule, or delivery mode (physical/online/hybrid) when necessary.

6.1 If SLAP Cancels or Postpones an Event

If SLAP cancels or postpones an event, SLAP may (at its discretion):

  • Reschedule the event and carry forward your registration, and/or
  • Offer a credit/transfer to another SLAP event (if practical)

However, fees remain non-refundable (except where required by law).

7. Code of Conduct

Users must behave professionally and respectfully. SLAP may remove any attendee/member from an event or suspend Platform access for misconduct, harassment, disruption, or security violations. No refunds apply.

8. Photos & Recordings

SLAP events may be photographed/recorded for documentation and association communications (website, reports, newsletters, social media). By attending, you acknowledge this. If you prefer not to appear, notify organizers in advance; SLAP will make reasonable efforts but cannot guarantee exclusion from all background/group footage.

9. Intellectual Property

SLAP logos, materials, content, and Platform components are owned by SLAP (or licensed). You may not copy or republish without written permission.

10. Disclaimers

  • Platform is provided “as available”.
  • SLAP does not guarantee uninterrupted service.
  • Event/session content is for professional/educational purposes and does not replace clinical judgment or institutional protocols.

11. Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, SLAP is not liable for indirect or consequential losses arising from Platform use, event changes, third-party gateway interruptions, or circumstances beyond reasonable control.

12. Privacy

Personal data is handled according to the SLAP Privacy Policy and PDPA-aligned practices.

13. Governing Law

These Terms are governed by the laws of Sri Lanka. Courts of Colombo / Sri Lanka shall have jurisdiction unless otherwise required by law.
